Samsung planning new 11.6-inch Android tablet?

Recently we have been talking a lot about ultrabooks, but it’s time to move our focus to tablets for a second. From the introduction of the iPad 3, we haven’t really found a lot of interesting subjects to tell you about, but today we are presenting an 11.6-inch concept device from Samsung. Still surrounded by fog, it’s only a rumor, hence the question mark from the title, but let’s see what we can make of this.
While browsing the page for Samsung’s new dual-core Exynos 5250 processor, we have stumbled upon the picture you can find below. It’s a device which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which the company has showcased at CES, but it looks rather larger and a bit wider, making it possible to be 11.6-inches. Surely it’s a big leap forward and a risky one, but it’s worth it than competing with the new iPad.
The new iPad with the killer Retina Display has set a high standard for others to surpass, even if it hasn’t actually offered us much more in terms of performance. The new A5X chip is indeed more powerful on the graphics side, but not a huge improvement from the A5. On the other hand, the new iPad is practically a big step forward which many of today’s manufacturers will not be able to reach in the upcoming future. So, if you can’t beat the iPad, why not hit another segment of the market which is more in-reach.
What is backing up our claims? Well, the first thing is the form factor in the image, as we have told you a couple of paragraphs back, but this is not al. With the introduction of the Exynow 5250 Samsung will have a bit more computer power to give this tablet, making it possible to boost a HD resolution, maybe Full-HD even. Android 4.0 will run as a charm on the 11.6 incher, and provided that Samsung will also go for a tabvertible, we can expect it to catch on some customers.
Summing up, I for one can’t wait to see it in action. From the processor to the nice large screen, it’s something I would love to have, but I’m not that interested in it if Samsung will not add an attachable keyboard dock to the equation.
